WE ARE HOMETOWN NEWS.

LUDLOW — The Ludlow 250th Semi-Quincentennial celebration parade will take place on Saturday, June 15.

The parade will start at the Ludlow High School at 10 a.m. and will end at the Ludlow Memorial Park on the corner of Sewall and Chestnut streets.

The parade route will go from Chapin Street onto East Street, take a right onto Sewall Street before concluding at the Ludlow Memorial Park.

Following the parade, 250th Celebration Co-Chair Kathy Ouimette said there will be a “Huge Block Style Picnic” in the Veterans Memorial Park and the Mack Donnelly Gazebo.

According to Ouimette, the committee needs support from all local and surrounding communities.

“The committee is looking for sponsors for the bands that will be marching in the parade,” she added.

Bands that are set to march in the parade include the Polish American String Band, Aqua String Band, Woodland String Band, Great American Band, Hog River Dixie Land Band, Holyoke Caledonian Pipe Band, Ludlow Community Band, Ludlow High School Band, Baird Middle School Band and Melha Shriner’s Band.
Most recently, the Polish American String Band performed in the East Longmeadow parade this past Fourth of July.

The Ludlow 250th Celebration Parade Committee was invited to help out with the Fourth of July parade as a dry run for the upcoming celebratory 250th parade.

Ludlow 250th Celebration Parade Committee Chair Bruce Durand said the Parade Committee also is encouraging all those who wish to march — such as veteran’s groups, civic organizations, church groups, social groups, youth organizations, athletic organizations and businesses.

“The committee is currently working very hard to bring a great parade for the town’s upcoming 250th birthday celebration. Please mark your calendar for this important date,” Ouimette said.

If you have interest in sponsoring a band or participating in the parade, you can contact Durand at 413-547-8998 or ludlow250parade.com.

“The Ludlow MA 250th Celebration appreciates your support,” Durand added.

250th Celebration Committee Co-Chair Linda Collette said, “We are really excited about all the bands we have lined up. We are very fortunate to have Bruce Durand as our parade coordinator. He is a wealth of information and has been a part of organizing parades for over 10 years. How lucky are we to have him step up and get this done for us? Darn lucky.”
